Walk on the Wild Side

After downtown Phoenix’s First Friday event began pulling 10,000 people into the city’s core, other sleepy communities, such as Chandler, decided to jump into the art-walk mix. Now, thanks to the neighborhood organization Sunnyslope W.I.N.S., the north-central Phoenix community of Sunnyslope is sending out a wake-up call of its own.

The oftentimes comatose area will become a buzzing hive during the first-ever Sunnyslope Second Saturday Art Walk. More than 70 artists will display work at venues such as Nielsen Galleries, Bomberos Cafe & Wine Bar, Sunnyslope Village Center, and Grinders Coffee Co. Prices for the works will range from $8 to $8,000, so even if you’re balling on a budget, you can show some class without dropping too much coin. Local bands Pulsate Jazz, Hacksaw’s Blues, Caji & Salomé, and Try Me Bicycle will accentuate the laid-back but lively vibe.
