Great white northern game heats up the desert Southwest

Because we’re born-and-bred Phoenicians, we reacted to the Desert Ice Bonspiel similarly to how we did when the Phoenix Coyotes first set up shop here in ’96. It went something like this: Uhhhhhhh . . . WTF? Y’all want to sweep boulders down a giant sheet of ice in this hot-ass town? Then we did some additional digging and discovered that a bunch of blokes from Canada and the States have competed in this curling bonanza for five years running. Hosted by the Coyotes Curling Club, the three-day, 24-team tournament takes place at ALLTEL Ice Den.
