Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! has more cinematic moments than any 50 comparable films – and none is more magnificent than Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman’s soaring take on Elton John’s hoary standard “Your Song.” Who but Luhrmann could take a song with a lyric like
Sat on the roof
And I kicked off the moss
Well some of the verses
Well they got me quite cross
and make it transcendent?
That’s the kind of film it is, and the Cult of Baz takes the Luhrmann masterwork up a notch at the interactive Moulin Rouge! Shadowcast. Come As You Are, a group of folks who like the movie even more than we do, will act out the scenes, in full regalia, as the movie screens.
