Three 6 Mafia

Last 2 Walk
(Sony)

When the members of Three 6 Mafia won a 2006 Best Song Oscar for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," from Hustle & Flow, they reacted with so much exuberance that they made Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Jerry Maguire acceptance speech seem restrained by comparison — and even though the group is currently down to a duo, survivors DJ Paul and Juicy J are still basking in the glow of victory. There are missteps here, like the misbegotten "My Own Way," featuring (gag) Good Charlotte, but the kiss-my-ass opus "I Told 'Em" and the radio-ready "Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body)" are confident and celebratory. As for the infectiously moronic "I'd Rather," it declares, "I love having sex/But I'd rather get some head!" Take notice, Academy Awards voters.
