The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack
(Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation)
Published on July 24, 2008
The movie may not be highbrow, but the Rocky Horror soundtrack contains some great songs. Of course, "The Time Warp" is timeless and essential listening for anyone who wants to learn how to do the Time Warp dance in the film, but so many of the 14 tracks here could stand outside the soundtrack and still make sense. "Super Heroes," the last song in the film, is a prime example — it's a dark, dramatic ballad about failed heroism and getting slapped in the face by your own hubris. Coming up short after a well-fought challenge and subsequently feeling like crap is pretty universal, whether you're wearing gold lamé underwear or not.
